Kory J. Ickler
Kory J. Ickler is a partner in the Tampa office of Garrison, Yount, Forte & Mulcahy, LLC. His practice includes defense of claims involving medical malpractice, premises liability, restaurant liability, product liability, and automobile negligence. He is a member of both the Louisiana Bar (1998) and the Florida Bar (2000). Prior to joining the firm in 2015, Kory spent fifteen years working at a civil defense firm in Tallahassee where he also served on the firm’s executive management committee. Before entering private practice, Kory also spent two years working as a felony prosecutor for the 2nd Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s office in Tallahassee.
Kory’s education includes an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, which he obtained in 1995. While at Creighton, Kory served as President of the student body his senior year and was also a recipient of Creighton’s Fr. Tom Schloemer, S. J. Outstanding Student Leader Award. After graduating from Creighton with honors Kory attended law school at the Tulane School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was a three year member of the school’s Moot Court Board. While at Tulane, Kory competed in the Texas Young Lawyers Mock Trial Competition and the American Trial Lawyers Association National Mock Trial Competition. Upon obtaining his Juris Doctorate with honors from Tulane in 1998, Kory was also awarded the Cicero C. Sessions Trial Advocacy Award, which is presented each year to the student achieving the highest grade point average in the school’s trial advocacy curriculum.
During his career Kory has twice been recognized by the Florida Trend Magazine as a “Legal Elite Up and Comer” in 2006 and 2009. He is licensed to practice in both Florida and Louisiana and is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts within the State of Florida.
Kory has represented clients that include small individual business owners, large global corporations, and insurance companies. He has obtained multiple defense verdicts at trial for claims involving wrongful death and catastrophic injury. His medical malpractice experience includes representation of health care providers from a wide array of different medical specialties and his trial and litigation experience ranges from claims involving standard automobile negligence and slip and fall claims to claims involving emergency room death, high risk pregnancy, and failure to detect cancer claims. Kory also has an extensive amount of general client service experience from providing outside general counsel services to a large regional medical center in North Florida. His experience also includes defending product liability claims for a global pharmaceutical company for an emerging and important cancer treatment medication.
Kory enjoys the excellent saltwater fishing and outdoor activities offered throughout central and north Florida and he is active in local community basketball leagues.
